Learn the skills to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies as a professional lifeguard. Successful participants will receive certificates in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen training.

Prerequisites:

• Be 15 years of age on or before he final scheduled class session
• Bring proof of age to first class (birth certificate, driver's license, etc.)
• Swim 300 yards continuously using the strokes in the following order:
  1. 100 yards front crawl using rhythmic breathing and stabilizing propellant kick
  2. 100 yards of breaststroke (whip kick & timing of stroke)
  3. 100 yards of front crawl and/or breaststroke. This can be a mixture of front crawl and breaststroke.
  • Time does NOT allow for stroke work during Lifeguarding course.
• Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a minimum of 7 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and back to the starting point, keeping the face above water and holding the 10-pound object with both hands and exit the pool
• Appropriate swimming attire only. One-piece swimsuits are required for all water sessions. Goggles may only be worn fro prerequisite swim.
