Volunteer Satisfaction Survey 2008

As part of the roadmap to implement our new strategic plan, the American Red Cross national organization has developed an evaluation system for its field service units that will ask for input from our service recipients, volunteers, internal customers, and our community partners. As part of this evaluation system, all chapters in the nation are now required to ask for an assessment of the satisfaction and engagement of our volunteer workforce. This survey is one way we measure the involvement of our volunteers.

If you have not recieved a survey in the mail from us, please feel free to email Christa Zielke to request access to an online version. Thank you!

Volunteer Spotlight: Butler CountyTransportation Program

Volunteers like Len Connie and Bill Schlotter are providing a vital service to those in need in the Butler County Area. These two volunteers, who have each been with the Red Cross for over 20 years, are drivers for the Red Cross's Transportation Program in Butler County.

They come into the Middletown office every week, and get a schedule of clients who have made arrangements through the program to get much-needed transportation to crucial medical appointments, such as weekly dialysis sessions. Using Red Cross vehicles, Len and Bill, along with others, drive out to these clients' homes, and take them to their appointments, free of charge. Without the service of the Butler County Transportation Program, these clients would have a difficult time getting to these appointments.

The impact of this service cannot be underestimated. Clients like
Russell Current, who is legally blind, rely on the program. Russell started using the transportation service program for all of his medical appointments in 2003.  As a result, he felt that he wanted to give back to the ARC for providing this free service, so he became a volunteer for the Chapter, serving as a receptionist three days a week for a year and a half at the Middletown office.

"The ARC has always been there for me," stated Russell.

The transportation program serves individuals living in the cities of Middletown, Monroe, Trenton and the townships of Madison and Lemon. Clients are people who lack reliable access to alternative sources of transportation. The program is designed to help individuals live independently for as long as possible.

"The success of the transportation program is due to the continued financial support of the United Way, and the continued long term service and dedication of our volunteer drivers."

We thank Len, Bill and all of the wonderful transportation drivers assisting those in need in Butler County!
