While providing at-home care is a growing trend, it can be challenging for caregivers and their families. Caring for a parent, spouse or friend in a home setting—ensuring a safe environment and providing even the most basic care—can be overwhelming.
That’s why we are so excited to introduce the new American Red Cross Family Caregiving program.
Nine one-hour modules help you provide better care on topics such as healthy eating, positioning and home safety. There is even a module to assist caregivers to better understand medical, legal and financial issues.
The American Red Cross Family Caregiving program consists of the following:
· Assisting with Personal Care
· Caring for the Caregiver
· Positioning and Helping Your Loved One Move
· Family Caregiving: General Caregiving Skills
· Family Caregiving: Home Safety
· Healthy Eating
· Caring for Loved One with HIV/AIDS
· Caring for Loved One with Alzheimer’s Disease or Dementia
· Legal and Financial Resources
Each participant receives a booklet for take-home reference. To offer this program at your church, organization, or institution, please call 513-792-4000.
