Online Training
Online Training provides a new and convenient way to learn First Aid, Adult CPR and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) knowledge and skills. It combines online learning of First Aid, Adult CPR and/or AED with an approximate 2-3 hours instructor-led classroom skills session.
Because this is a web-based application you will need an Internet browser (Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher or Netscape 6.2 or higher). Content is in Portable Document Format (PDF) and Macromedia Flash Player. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader and a Flash Player.
To earn certification the registrant must successfully complete the online session, as well as successfully participate in the skills practice and assessment classroom session.
You will be participating in strenuous activities, such as performing CPR on the floor. If you have a medical condition or disability that may prevent your from taking part in the classroom skills session, or if you have any questions about your ability to participate fully in this course, discuss them with your health –care provider and an American Red Cross representative before you start your course.
Registration Policies for Online Training:
- Click on the course that best meets your needs and complete the registration form.
- Within one business day of receiving your registration and payment information , a customer service representative will contact you by phone. At this time, the representative will assist you with a date and time to attend the classroom skills session.
- You will receive an email that includes a user ID number, password and link to the online content. A Student User Guide will be attached to the email which provides instructions on how to contact user support, access the system and navigate through the online content.
- Complete both the online content and online test. You must correctly answer 80 percent of the questions of the final online exam. Print the “Proof of Completion” document. This must be presented to your classroom skills instructor. You will not be admitted without it.
- Wear comfortable clothing to the classroom skills session.
Cancellation Policy:
- If you do not complete the online session in the 2 week time allowed, you will be charged an additional $15 to reschedule.
- If you miss your classroom skills session, you will be charged an additional $15 to reschedule. Class size for the skills session is small and will be most often a one-on-one session with the instructor.
Rescheduling Policy:
- If you must reschedule the online session, please notify us at least 7 days prior to online session expiration date to avoid an additional $15 rescheduling fee. Registrants have two opportunities to reschedule within three months of the original online session date.
- If you must reschedule your classroom skills session, please notify us at least 3 days prior to your classroom skills session course in order to avoid the additional $15 rescheduling fee. Registrants have two opportunities to reschedule within three months of the original online session date.
- There are no refunds if unsuccessful in completing online session or classroom skills session. After submitting the online exam, you will be notified if you passed. If you failed, you will see an exam-specific message and may be prompted to take the exam over again or returned to the content for further review depending on the specific course and number of times you have already attempted the exam. If you exceed the number of attempts, you will need to speak with an American Red Cross representative at 513-792-4000.

Online Training Course Descriptions
First Aid/Adult CPR/Automated External Defibrillation – Online Training
Students will learn the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies, including how to use and automated external defibrillator (AED). Students will also learn how to recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses such as bleeding, fractures, burns, seizures, etc. The rescue techniques are designed to be used on a victim age 9 and older. The online session takes approximately 4 hours; the skills assessment session takes approximately 3 hours.

The online session takes approximately 1 hour; the skills assessment session takes approximately 1 hour. Prerequisite: Current American Red Cross Adult CPR or equivalent issued within 1 year of course completion.
